Seven Winemakers to Watch in 2012 - Matt Duffy and Sara Vaughn love Pinot Noir almost as much as they love each other. In 2007 they gave up all the perks of city life (they still miss being able to see Giant's games at a minute's notice) to make Pinot Noir in Sonoma. Now married and with their third vintage on its way, the relationship seems to be going well. Matt says, "If I get to drink one varietal for the rest of my life it's Pinot Noir. Easy decision."
Spring 2012 release by the Wellesley Wine Press
"There are so many tremendous Pinot Noir producers to visit in Sonoma. Of all the wineries I visited, the one I'm most excited to write about is this one: Vaughn Duffy Wines"
Vaughn Duffy 2010 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley Score: 88 / $39

San Francisco Chronicle - Sept. 11, 2011
2009 Vaughn Duffy Suacci Vineyard Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir ($39, 13.2%): Matt Duffy found an edgy, impressive approach for his inaugural vintage from the stellar Suacci site. Refreshing, moss tinged and foresty, with dark mineral and appealing fruit - raspberry, bayberry, vibrant orange peel. A touch of whole-cluster spice adds a final, complex touch.

Vaughn Duffy 2009 Pinot Noir Suacci Vineyard Score: 89 / $39
A delicate, well-structured style that's light in color, with snappy rasberry and wild berry flavors that are clean and refreshing, ending with notes of spice and wilted rose. Drink now through 2020. 49 cases made. - JL

2010 Vaughn Duffy Sonoma County Rosé of Pinot Noir ($15, 13.2%): While the 2009 Pinot from Matt Duffy, who apprenticed at Siduri, was an amazing debut, the nuance in his subtle rosé, blended from three vineyards, is a real testament to his talent. It brims with the best of Pinot's expression in pink form: wintergreen, strawberry and moss in a refined, steely package.
